Exciting news! Our workshops at Neptune are back for 2025! Due to high demand, we’ve increased capacity and are now offering each workshop twice—once in the afternoon of Day 1 and again in the morning of Day 2. This gives you more flexibility to choose a time that works best for you.

Workshop Description:

Presented by: Dr David Smith, Consultant in Emergency Medicine and Paediatric Emergency Medicine, NUH


This high-fidelity simulation-based workshop will immerse participants in realistic trauma scenarios, focusing on the rapid assessment and management of critically injured patients. Key learning points include:

  • Team-based trauma resuscitation
  • Human factors in high-pressure situations
  • Effective communication and decision-making

Through hands-on simulations and debrief sessions, participants will develop skills in leading and participating in trauma resuscitations, enhancing their confidence and competence in emergency situations.

This hands-on session will cover essential skills for managing minor trauma-related injuries. Participants will practice key techniques, including:

  • Plastering
  • Traction
  • Wound closure
  • Haemorrhage control

Facilitated by an experienced team of clinicians and nurses, this workshop aims to equip attendees with practical knowledge and confidence in handling minor injuries effectively.

Workshop Description:

Presented by: Dr Abdellah Aroui, Consultant in Emergency Medicine and Ultrasound Lead for Emergency Medicine, NUH and Dr Dave Shearn, Consultant in Emergency Medicine and Paediatric Emergency Medicine, NUH


This interactive session will focus on the application of ultrasound in paediatric trauma. Participants will gain hands-on experience in key techniques, including:

  • Femoral nerve block
  • IV access
  • Cardiac, respiratory, and abdominal assessments

This workshop is designed to enhance diagnostic skills and improve patient outcomes through the effective use of ultrasound.

This workshop will focus on real-world paediatric trauma airway challenges in both prehospital and emergency settings. Key topics include:

  1. Anatomy and physiology of the paediatric airway
  2. Airway equipment and management strategies
  3. Emergent airway interventions

Hands-on case-based discussions will enhance your confidence in managing these critical scenarios.

Ever wondered how patients arrive in the ED fully packaged? In this interactive workshop, you’ll experience the process firsthand—starting with an untreated casualty and working through to full prehospital packaging, ready for transport. Alongside this, we’ll explore prehospital analgesia options, discussing how to balance effective pain management with safe packaging and transfer.
